Troutbeck is a Camping & Caravanning Club site in Cumbria.
We've visited once, in June 2009.
![]() The site has a toilet block, and most pitches have EHU, with some being on hardstanding. The layout of the site is a bit weird...most pitches are in a field at the bottom of a hill, with a few to one side of statics, and a lone one (the one on which we were pitched) at the top of the site. The downside of this pitch is that being next to the entrance it's a bit of a thoroughfare, but being positive it was convenient for the toilet block (to be honest the main field is too remote from it).
![]() There's a nice walk along a redundant part of the A66, then back across the fields along the river : would recommend this. A bit further afield, there's a dis-used railway that heads towards Keswick, which is good if you fancy a walk but don't feel like tackling a hill. As well as Keswick, the site is convenient for driving down to Ullswater.
Would we go back? I doubt it : there's nothing too wrong with the site overall, it's just that the Caravan Club Troutbeck Head is nearby, and a much nicer site for our tastes.
